01 Convert a clip
- Run
/giphyfyand attach your video to thefileoption. - (Optional) set
fpsandmax_duration— both explained below. - Send. GiphyFy converts the first part of the clip into a looping GIF.
02 Frame rate (fps)
The fps option sets how many frames per second the GIF keeps. The default is 8 and the range is 1–15.
- Higher fps (12–15) = smoother motion, but a noticeably bigger file.
- Lower fps (5–8) = smaller file, slightly choppier — usually fine for memes and reactions.
03 Duration
The max_duration option controls how many seconds to use, measured from the start of the clip. The default is 5 seconds and the maximum is 15. If your clip is longer, trim it to the moment you want before converting.
04 Size limits
- Input: the video you upload must be 15 MB or smaller.
- Output: the GIF is capped at Discord's 25 MB limit.
- Scaling: GiphyFy automatically scales video down to a maximum width of 320 px to keep GIFs light.

05 Formats
GiphyFy accepts MP4, WEBM and MOV (plus AVI and MKV). For best results, start from the cleanest source you have.
06 Tips
- Trim first. A tight 2–3 second loop almost always looks better than a rushed 15-second one.
- If the clip has sound or is long, a GIF may be the wrong format — compare options in GIF vs WebM vs MP4.
