GiphyFy commands

Everything GiphyFy can do, in one place. Most of it is a right-click away — but there are a few slash commands when you want more control over the result.

02 Right-click → 📸 Screenshot GIF

This is the flagship feature and the fastest way to use GiphyFy. It renders a pixel-perfect screenshot of any Discord message and sends it back as a GIF.

  • On desktop: hover a message, click the ••• (More) button, open Apps, then choose 📸 Screenshot GIF.
  • On mobile: long-press the message, tap Apps, then 📸 Screenshot GIF.
  • By reply: you can also reply to a message and mention @GiphyFy — it screenshots the message you replied to.

GiphyFy reproduces the message's avatar, username, role colour, timestamp and text exactly as Discord shows it, so the result looks like a real screenshot — not a re-typed copy.

03 /screenshot

/screenshot message_id slash command

Creates a GIF screenshot of a specific message by its ID. Handy when you can't right-click (for example, in a different channel) or when you're scripting a workflow.

ParameterRequiredDescription
message_idYesThe ID of the message you want to screenshot.

How do I get a message ID?

Turn on Developer Mode in Discord (Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode). Then right-click any message and choose Copy Message ID. Paste that into the message_id field.

04 /giphyfy

/giphyfy file slash command

Converts an image or short video into a high-quality GIF. Upload a file, optionally tweak the settings, and GiphyFy hands you a ready-to-share GIF.

ParameterDefaultDescription
file—Required. The image or video to convert.
qualityhighHigh uses smooth gradients (dithering); Sharp keeps hard edges with no dithering. Pick Sharp for pixel art, logos and text.
fps8Frames per second for videos. Range 1–15. Higher is smoother but bigger.
max_duration5How many seconds of the video to use, from the start. Range 1–15.

Supported formats & limits

  • Images: PNG, JPG, WEBP.
  • Videos: MP4, WEBM, MOV (AVI and MKV also work).
  • Video upload limit: 15 MB. The output GIF is capped at Discord's 25 MB limit.
  • Sizing: videos are scaled down to a maximum width of 320 px to keep GIFs light and Discord-friendly.

Getting a "GIF is too large" error? Lower the fps or the max_duration. See how to shrink a GIF under Discord's limit.

05 /embed

/embed link slash command

Drops a TikTok or Instagram video straight into the chat as a playable clip, so people don't have to leave Discord to watch it. YouTube support is coming soon.

ParameterRequiredDescription
linkYesA public TikTok or Instagram video link.

/embed only works with publicly available links and is meant for sharing — please respect each platform's terms and the original creator's rights.

06 /help

/help slash command

Shows a quick in-Discord summary of GiphyFy's features and commands — a handy reminder without leaving the app.

07 The delete button

Every GIF GiphyFy creates comes with a 🗑️ Delete button attached. Only the person who generated the GIF — or the author of the original message — can use it. Made a mistake or changed your mind? One click and it's gone. No mod tools or message-manage permissions required.

08 Where GiphyFy works

GiphyFy is flexible about how you install it:

  • As a User App — add it to your own account and use it anywhere on Discord, including servers where it isn't installed, group chats and DMs.
  • In a server — add it to a server so everyone there can use it.
