01 Which option to pick
GiphyFy supports both of Discord's install types, and you can use both at once:
- User App (just for you). GiphyFy follows your account and works almost anywhere on Discord — including servers where it isn't added, group chats and DMs. Nobody else needs to install anything.
- Server install (for everyone). Adds GiphyFy to a specific server so every member can use it there. Best if you want it as a shared tool for your community.
Not sure? Add it as a User App first. It's the most flexible and needs no server permissions.
02 Add GiphyFy as a User App
- Open the install link. Click Add GiphyFy to Discord.
- Choose "Try it now" / Add to my apps. When Discord asks where to add it, pick the personal (User App) option.
- Authorise. Confirm the prompt. That's it — no roles or channels to configure.
- Use it anywhere. Right-click any message → Apps → 📸 Screenshot GIF, or type
/giphyfyin any chat.
03 Add GiphyFy to a server
You'll need the Manage Server permission on the server you want to add it to.
- Open the install link. Use the same Add to Discord link.
- Select "Add to Server". Choose the server from the dropdown.
- Review & authorise. Keep the requested permissions and confirm.
- Done. Everyone on the server can now use GiphyFy's commands and the right-click action.
04 Check it works
Type /help anywhere GiphyFy is available. If you see GiphyFy's feature list, you're good to go. Then try the real thing: turn a message into a GIF.
05 Troubleshooting
I don't see GiphyFy in the Apps menu
Fully restart Discord (close and reopen). Slash commands and app actions can take a few minutes to appear after installing.
The command isn't showing in this server
If GiphyFy was added as a User App, its commands work for you everywhere; other members would need it installed too, or the bot added to the server.
